We fired someone a week ago.
I know this is seriously poor form, but here I go.
IT FEELS SO GOOD.
He’s gone. He made me unhappy. He made others unhappy. He was a major pain in the ass.
They say, “Hire slow, fire fast.”
Instead, we hire fast, fire slow.
Why don’t we listen?
Maybe I have brain damage?
You’d think I’d listen to “them.” “They”’ are usually right.
The new guy started the same day we let the other one go. He’s magnificent, marvelous, and mighty impressive.
Of course, I know from experience that he’s benefiting from the relief I feel from being rid of the rotten employee, but he looks incredible at the moment.
We’ve been talking about firing her for years. She finally made it nearly impossible to keep her. She started failing to show up for work. Even with that, it took us weeks to act. We just don’t fire fast. We’re sloooooooowwww.
Learn from my mistakes. Benefit from my agony. Join me in my ecstasy.
Fire the one you’ve dying to fire. Do it, do it, do it.
It feels so good.
