We’re hiring an attorney and on Tuesday decided to add a twist to the selection process. We ran an ad about a week ago and received a bunch of resumes.
On Tuesday night we shot an email out to seven excellent candidates. Our email contained a video and on it we asked the candidates to respond, by video, to five questions about their experiences, future plans, suitability for our work space and opinions about compensation systems.
By Thursday evening we received four videos by email and one candidate dropped off a DVD. The responses are great and allow us to identify some issues without having to do a phone screen for every candidate. Obviously, we get a good check on the candidate’s level of comfort with technology without having to ask a question.
So far, so good.
