Good morning.

Basic bookkeeping is one of those things a lot of us look at with dread. As a result, I know lots of lawyers who don’t have a great grasp of their expenses because they don’t know what their revenue is. They basically know whether or not there’s money in the bank, but that’s it. I know a few who haven’t filed taxes in a few years because they just don’t want to tackle the issue.

Today, we’re talking about getting your books sorted and making sure you have your revenues and expenses in front of you on a regular basis. I suggest handing this off to somebody else. That’s scary for a lot of us, but it’s this resistance that usually means we aren’t seeing the numbers we need to see. There are things you need to see on a daily basis so you know where thing stand.
