Welcome back.

We’re continuing with the story of when I handed off our bookkeeping, and how things went from bad to worse. But there’s a happy ending to the story, and I want you to learn from my mistake and realize that bookkeeping is not (well, SHOULD not) be exciting, or dramatic, or particularly challenging. If you hand it off to someone and they don’t have you in good shape in a few days, you have the wrong person. We often think that bookkeeping is a big mysterious force simply because most lawyers don’t really like doing it and don’t understand it all that well.

Today’s assignment is up in your feed and I talk quite a bit about what you should expect from a bookkeeper and the kinds of responsibilities we handed off to ours – it’s probably more than you would expect.

What lessons have you learned about bookkeeping the hard way?
