A guy e-mailed me the other day and asked for a discount on my upcoming workshop. No one had ever asked for a discount before. He pled his case well: he had come before and wanted to come again.
I gave him $100 off the price.
Everything is negotiable.
I’m sure you’ve had clients try to negotiate a deal on your fee. It happens all the time.
Everything is negotiable.
- Our lease was up for renewal last year. That was negotiable in a big way.
- Same for our VoIP phone service. We negotiated and got about 50 percent off. Wow!
- Salaries? Of course, completely negotiable.
- I meet with a group of lawyers in Las Vegas twice a year. Hotels in Las Vegas? They’re negotiable.
- Malpractice insurance, health insurance, copiers/scanners/computers, office supplies, coffee services: it’s all negotiable.
How much is it? That depends on how much you’re willing to pay and how hard you’re willing to try.
Everything is negotiable. Are you trying?
Was I offended that the guy asked me for a discount? Not at all. It hadn’t happened before, but it didn’t make me blink. Will I give that same discount to you? Probably so (if you’re coming to my workshop for a second time).
