Good morning. Today’s assignment is up in your podcast feed – it’s a fairly straight-forward question, but it’s going to require some time to think about.

As we work through these questions and exercises, be sure to keep a copy of your notes and responses somewhere – you should have a running log of what we’re working on as you clarify your vision.

Today’s lesson is also about demystifying what we mean when we talk about “vision”. We’re talking about big and ambitious plans, and we’re working on removing constraints. But we’re not talking about magic, or asking the universe for success, or pinning our hopes on positive thinking.

There’s no magic in building a house, or a skyscraper, or a factory. When you have a clear purpose the building is going to serve and detailed requirements and specifications for what it should accommodate, you can determine what’s required to make it happen.

That doesn’t mean it’s quick or easy, but it means that you have a obvious path for hiring an architect, arranging financing, and finding contractors to do the work.

But a lot of us find ourselves in the position of having hired a crew and purchased a few truck-loads of cinderblocks, without even knowing what kind of structure we want, much less having any blueprints.
